About Us.
Dolphin American Spares was formed in 1989 to import spares for American vehicles and marine engines. This included importing sleeves and pistons for our in-house boring and resleeving work as well as spares and accessories for customers' engines, vehicles and boats. During this time Dolphin American evolved into the company it is today, still offering the original services but now also servicing, engine rebuilds and tuning, restorations and repairs.
The Dolphin team are an eclectic mix, bringing together a wealth of experience covering many fields so each job can have a designated engineer who is highly qualified in that particular area. This ensures that the work is done correctly, efficiently and cost effectively. This can be anything from an oil change to a full restoration project.
Dolphin American has the latest diagnostic equipment for all European, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler vehicles to include ABS test and report and all engine fault code diagnostics. All vehicles covered from 1980 - 2009.
So for engineering, trouble-shooting, servicing, electrics, engine rebuilds, panel work, welding, bodywork, refurbishing, upholstery repair and replace, paintwork, chromework or spare parts supplies - we have an experienced, qualified person to do the job!
So meet the team:
David Keeling: Founder of Dolphin Spares and Dolphin American Services Ltd. Dave has a wealth of experience in engineering, auto and marine and is never happier than at his bench rebuilding engines; especially large horsepower engines. His engineering abilities are well known and respected in both the auto and marine trades. Since before he was even qualified to drive, Dave has always had at least one British Classic or an American vehicle on the drive at his parents' home and now he has two units full of them and a drive-full of his own.
Dianne Keeling: Co-founder with husband David, Dianne's original career was as a highly qualified riding instructor and trainer but she gave it all up to help David in the new company. She then also worked part-time for Auto Trader for many years gaining experience in the advertising world before giving that up too to concentrate on Dolphin American Services. Although the form of horsepower may have changed, the passion has not and the horses in her life at the moment are under the hood of a 1968 Mustang Fastback.
Matthew Rostant: Originally started with Dolphin over 3 years ago as a Saturday boy, Matt has progressed to full employment and is a valued member of the Dolphin team. He attends Bournemouth College once a week studying for his NVQ and City Guilds qualifications. His main quality is infinite patience which we exploit ruthlessly on work such as tracing electrical faults and small fiddly jobs which he always carries out meticulously without ever getting flustered.
Ray Gunn: Ray has been in the motor industry for over 30 years. He initially trained as a motorcycle technician and has qualifications in light vehicle repairs, electronics and engineering. He was a factory trained diagnostic technician for Chrysler Jeep for 10 years with a vaste wealth of experience after working on Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Alpha Romeo, Ford, GM etc. Besides his passion for cars, Ray also has a passion for cricket and is a qualified ECB coach and spends time each week coaching the up and coming county cricketers of the future. Howzat!
